We’re going back to Kathmandu

We’re off to Kathmandu to catch up with our makers, to check on their welfare, to work on new products and to bring new producers into our ever expanding network of fair trade producers.

Craft producers in Kathmandu form a vital part of the city’s cultural fabric, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship and traditional techniques passed down through generations. From intricate wood carvings and handwoven textiles to delicate metalwork and pottery, these artisans infuse their creations with rich Nepalese heritage.

Working in small workshops and family-owned businesses, they skillfully blend traditional methods with contemporary designs, offering a diverse range of handmade products. These craft producers play a crucial role in preserving Nepal’s cultural heritage while also contributing to the local economy and providing employment opportunities for skilled artisans in the vibrant city of Kathmandu.

It is an ancient trading hub and is where our Nepalese producers are based.  Most of our products are actually made in the countryside then brought into the city, where they are bought and sold.  This year as well as checking in with our network of existing suppliers and stocking up on our old favourites, we will be starting a new line in  one off Nepalese collectable items inspired by the ethnic melting pot that is Kathmandu.
