Closure of Afghan Pakistan Border

Closure of The Afghan Pakistan Border

The border between Afghanistan and Pakistan has been closed since October 2025, due to increased militancy and clashes between Taliban and Pakistan Border Forces.  This has resulted in thousands of trucks stuck on both sides of the border, and no goods crossing between the two countries.

This impacts us, and more importantly the lovely ladies who knit our iconic Afghan Slipper Socks, as our Afghan Slipper Socks come by road to Peshawar in Pakistan where they are packed and prepared for shipping.  It is very difficult, and very expensive to ship from Afghanistan, which is why we send them from Pakistan.

We have therefore been unable to get any new stock from our producers since last Autumn so stocks of the most popular sizes and colours are getting low.

So if you are thinking of getting any slipper socks, we would recommend getting them now while we still have stock.

Once the border does reopen we will be getting more, but as is the way of the World, the new ones will be more expensive as costs of materials, wages, shipping and other importation charges have all been going up.
